400 g potatoes 200 g apples 1/2 l cream Salt, pepper, nutmeg 50 g cheese
Peel and finely slice the potatoes and apples. Arrange in layers in a buttered oven dish. Mix cream, salt, pepper and nutmeg together, bring the ingredients to the boil and pour them over the layered potato and apple. Bake the gratin in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 °C. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top and put the dish back into oven to cook for a further 10 minutes.
This savoury treat is a perfect accompaniment to a fine breast of duck. It’s also delicious with a traditional fried sausage!
